Watauga House Fire

911 Dispatchers for North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Haltom City and Watauga, responded to a fire call, sending police and firefighters from Watauga and mutual aid fire from North Richland Hills and Haltom City.

The fire was in a single story home, with heavy fire showing from the garage as first responders arrived. Quint 311 made the initial attack while other firefighters arrived.

There was heavy damage to the home, and sadly at least one family pet was lost.

Watauga firefighters got to break in their new black bunker gear. The new gear is their 2nd set, allowing them to wash the dirty set after working a fire like this, and have another set to use for the next fire. A major concern in the fire service now is exposure to carcinogens while fighting fires. That’s why you’ll see more and more fire departments asking for a 2nd set of bunker gear in their budgets as well as more efforts to clean up after fighting fire.
