Grapevine Winery Fire Commercial Fire Fire Service House Fire December 5, 2020December 6, 2020 Grapevine, TX – December 5, 2020 16:15 – 911 Dispatchers received reports of a an attic fire at 211 E Worth St, at the Homestead Winery. Station 1 reported seeing a header(smoke column) as they left their station. Engine 1 arrived first reporting a single-story, wood frame residence with heavy smoke showing from the attic, and went offensive, passing command and declaring a working fire. Police officers assisted with traffic control in the busy area, just east of Main St. Engine 2 arrived and supplied Engine 1. Battalion 1 took command and performed a 360 with fire showing from the A side. Engine 1 reported construction conditions. Medic 3 was sent to assist Engine 1, as Truck 1 vented on the B side. With a primary all clear, and conditions worsening, Battalion 1 ordered crews outside switching from an interior offensive attack to an exterior defensive attack. It’s believed that the fire was started accidentally during renovations to the building. There are no known serious injuries. Crews were able to extinguish the fire. However there was extensive damage to the 1890s house. GFD used their drone to provide an aerial view including thermal imaging, which seemed to aid in directing crews to hotspots, once they were able to get into the attic. One of the photos is of the drone image looking straight down over the scene with a firefighter’s image(Chris Carlson, I believe), with several hotspots in color. The video below was posted to the Grapevine Professional Firefighters Facebook page. It provides a great firsthand perspective of roof ventilation early in the call. https://www.facebook.com/GFFA3113 “The attached video gives a first hand view of what the Outside Team of our Truck Company is generally task with at building fires. Ventilation, open up work, and utilities. The other two members of this four man company are the Inside Team who’s main task is to conduct search and rescue operations in the building interior.”
