Christmas Fire in Hurst

December 25, 2019 19:02 – Hurst, TX. For the 2nd year in a row, Hurst FD has fought a house fire on Christmas night. Station 1 was first on at a large, two-story home on the city’s far north side. Heavy black smoke was coming from a single, 2nd story window. Engine 201’s crew pulled an attack line and hit it from the outside first, before moving the line inside, and upstairs. Truck 202 set up the aerial for lighting, and Engine 203 pulled a backup line off of Engine 201. Colleyville and North Richland Hills were dispatched to the scene on automatic mutual aid, and Bedford covered at least one call during the fire. Fortunately, it seems the fire was contained to one room and knocked down quickly. However, smoke and water damage is likely in other areas of the home. The American Red Cross arrived to assist the family who escaped without any injuries. Update form a City of Hurst press release: ” The cause of the fire was determined to be a hoverboard that had been charging in the bedroom for most of the day. “
