Colleyville 2 Alarm Commercial Fire

May 23, 2019 12:28 – NETCOM Dispatchers toned out a structure fire at 32 Village Lane in Colleyville. Truck 241, Engine 243, Engine 242, Medic 241, Battalion 24, Hurst Engine 201, Keller Truck 581 and Battalion 58 were on the first alarm.
Colleyville units arrived quickly, and checked on with light smoke showing from the roof of the 2 story commercial structure that housed a restaurant as well as other businesses. Crews searched for the fire from the inside, but it was unreachable above them in the attic space. The fire spread quickly and caused the tile roof to collapse. Command called for an evacuation of all interior crews and they switched to a defensive attack. It wasn’t long before a 2nd alarm was struct at 12:37, bringing Bedford Air 151, Engine 152, Grapevine Heavy Rescue 56(Engine 4’s crew), Engine 3, Medic 2, Chief 2, Battalion 1, Hurst Engine 203, a Southlake engine and North Richland Hills Quint(hope I got that all right). I’m sure there were station fill-ins from other cities and companies.

There were several exterior collapses from the tile roof overhang. Hurst Engine 203 used their UAV for some aerial recon.

Eventually the majority of the fire was knocked down using Truck 241 and 581’s aerial master streams, a deck gun on Engine 242, as well as numerous hose lines from the ground. Bedford Engine 152 used their deck gun for exposure protection to keep neighboring condos safe.

Unfortunately, the building and contents appear to be a total lose. Some reports indicate that the fire may have started accidently by roofing activity, but I have not heard an official cause at the time of this post.

Thanks to Colleyville Police Officer Walling for the sunscreen. It was good to see you again. Thanks for the Neighborhood Walmart for water and ice.
