June 19, 2009 Fort Worth - Has a new large capacity fan from SVI now. It was at FDIC and a photo is available at Fire Apparatus and Emergency Equipment's website. "Also I stopped in at Rosenbaur General in Wyoming, Minnesota again and they said that they have another contract with the Fort Worth Fire Department for five new engines, I'm guessing they will be started in a couple months. There were no other trucks on their agenda for this month or next month for the D/FW area." Thanks to Kyle

June 18, 2009 North Richland Hills - Has cancelled their order of a rescue pumper with AmericanLaFrance. The unit was ordered 27 months ago and as a result of ongoing restructering, American LaFrance was unable to meet the time frame designated in the contract or provide any time frame for delivery. This unit was to go in service as E223. The fire department will be going back out to bid along with a bid for a replacement quint to go in service on the North side of city as Q221. June 18 , 2009 Red Oak - A regular contributor asks, "What is going on with the engines? I heard a new engine number and was wondering if they are getting a new one or just moving the engines around." Can anyone help me answer this one? Thanks to Josh at Metro Fire Apparatus for the following answer: Red Oak had their quint updated, and is back in service. It is running out of Station 1. Their Crimson is now E-182 (this unit was E-181 and ran out of St. 1). The old E-182 is now a reserve and bares E-183. He sent these photos
June 16, 2009 Fort Worth - City Council agenda item to remove temporary fire station 34. 34's crews will temporarily be stationed at 41's, until the permanent station 34 is completed. in 2010
June 15, 2009 Fort Worth - "The 110' Quint 25 has been moved to Station 12 and is now Quint 12. Station 25 is now running Engine 25. Old Quint 12 has been moved to Station 13 and is now Quint 13. Engine 32 is the last remaining Freightliner. No word as to when it will be replaced". Thanks to Anonymous

June 6, 2009 EVENT Hugo, OK - "It is a bit of a drive for Dallas buffs, but Hugo, Oklahoma hosts an annual fire truck parade next weekend, June 6th. Last year there were 43 rigs and man, you want to talk about a selection! All of the rigs get there early (about 9AM or so) and everyone visits for a few hours before the parade (at Noon)." May 20, 2009 Mount Rushmore Area- I vacationed in South Dakota and Wyoming recently, and saw these fire related things. If you're really bored and want to see most of my vacation photos click here. It's well worth a trip up there to see the beautiful country and national landmarks. May 7, 2009 - Parker County - ESD #6 accepted their second brush truck built by Emergency Vehicles of Texas in the last 8 months. The new truck built on a Dodge 5500 4x4 2-door cab/chassis has an 11 ft. steel flat bed with Rhino liner material applied; 400/20 gallon poly tank, front gated work stations with two whip line discharges, Darley/Odin 150/60 Mustang CAFSs system, hose reel, aluminum treadplate body compartments and Whelen led warning lights. May 4 Dallas - Has new paramedic SUV's out ( Medics ). Medic 1 is at Station 29, and Medic 2 is at station 6. Also, Dallas is putting in new Battalion vehicles for the EMS Supervisor and Arson. Here are some pictures Michael took at at the shop. Arson 684, EMS supervisor 783, Battalion Chief 9. They are still working on the other SUV's. Battalion. 4 is moving to Station 28. They have been at Station 57's for years and years, but Battalion 4 covers a lot of area, so they are moving it to 28's, and maybe putting another Battalion in. May 2 - E V E N T Dallas - Thanks once again to all the great folks with the Texas Fire Museum for sharing your toys! Here are a few photos.
Texas Fire Museum is holding their 18th Annual Muster and Fire Engine Show on Saturday, May 2, 2009. The show will take place at Fish Trap Park (2400 Toronto) in West Dallas which is just west of the Hampton and Singleton intersection and runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There is no admission charge, but donations will be appreciated. Texas Fire Museum is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization. We will have engines pumping water, water streams will be flowing out over the lake and ladders will be raised. For those that would like an up close and personal view of real but retired fire apparatus at work, we invite you to come and join us. This event is for children of all ages, those who are still kids at heart and those who may have a case of good old days syndrome. 4/30/2009 Josephine - Fire department is set to take delivery of their new Rosenabuer pumper built on the Spartan Furion cab/chassis on may 1st. The Rosenbauer pumper features the Centurion aluminum rescue body with Robinson roll up doors, Waterous CX 1250 GPM single stage pump; stainless steel plumbing; Foampro 2002 injection style foam system with a 20 gallon class a tank; 1000 gallon poly booster tank; electric right side ladder rack; Code 3 LED warning lights. The chassis is the Spartan Furion custom 4-door with seating for six (6); C7 Caterpillar 330 HP engine; Allison 3000EVS automatic transmission; extended front bumper with bumper discharge. 4/28/2009 Richardson - Open house for the newly rebuilt Fire Station #2, located at Waterview and Arapaho, will be April 28 at 5:30 p.m. The new station includes many upgrades, including male and female sleeping quarters. A slide has replaced the firemen's pole to provide rapid egress from the second floor. Thanks to Steve.

Engine 5 is an exact replica of previous pumpers and features a Star Series stainless steel body, Smart Storage, CAT C-13 380hp engine, EVS 4000 transmission, Jacobs engine brake, electronic stability control, Waterous 1250 gpm pump, Foam Pro 2002 system w/ one 25 gallon class A foam tank, 750 gallon water tank, Supervac Knight Light II, Honda 5kw generator and Whelen LED lighting all on a Spartan Gladiator EMFD chassis. 4/21/2009 Wolfe City - Volunteer Fire Department recently took delivery of their 2nd Brushfighter truck built by Emergency Vehicles of Texas in the last 14 months. the Ford F-550 4x4 regular cab, with the 6.4l diesel engine, automatic transmission carries a 10 ft. steel flat bed with two gated work stations; Whelen LED warning lights; Waterous pump system with stainless steel suction and discharge manifolds; single Hannay hose reel, three aluminum treadplate body compartments. The truck was purchased with a Texas Forestry Service grant. Thanks to EVOT.
4/21/2009 Alba - Volunteer Fire Department recently placed into service a Rosenbauer-Central Division 1800 gallon tanker built on a M2 Freightliner chassis. The truck has a Waterous 1250 GPM pump system; 1800 gallon poly tank with a 10 rear dump; Honda generator with quartz lights; rescue style driver side compartments with standard lower running board compartments on the passenger side with Robinson roll-up doors; drop down Fol-da-tank storage. 2/28/2009 Grand Prairies - new Public Safety Headquarters is currently under construction at the southwest corner of Hwy 161 and Arkansas Lane. This state of the art 150,000 square foot facility will be four stories tall and will centralize the majority of police operations, including a new jail and police-fire communications center. It will also be the headquarters for the Fire Department. We expect to be in the building by Spring 2010. Here is a link to the architects website that shows renderings of the site.
Grand Prairie also has three new Frazer ambulances on order with delivery expected this Summer. These will be on Dodge 4500 diesel chassis, similar to the one Carrollton recently got. Thanks to Eric

1/28/2009 Brady - Fire Department traded in their 2004 Freightliner/Rosenbauer 2 door commercial cab low side compartment engine for a 1996 Spartan/3D rescue engine. The new to them engine has more cab space and more compartment space so equipment from 3 different apparatus has been consolidated to this first out truck. They are still in the process of getting her ready for service, adding decals and lettering, and hope to be rolling her out on calls by next week. The engine, originally from California, was purchased from Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus(visit to see more photos under current inventory). Thanks to Garrett

1/27/2009 Azle - has received a new Rosenbauer custom engine (Engine 52) on a Spartan Gladiator/Central chassis. It has a Caterpillar C-9 engine, Allison transmission, Hale 1500 gpm pump with a FoamPro system. It also has a 100 hydraulic rescue tool and electric reels, SVI Knight Sight system, front brow light, hydraulic ladder rack, Onan plumbed diesel generator, speed lays for attack hose below the pump panel walkway, integrated backup camera for the driver, Panasonic Toughbook MDC, rear chevron striping, pack rack tool storage, on board cooler for meds, and all LED warning lights. 1/18/2009 Farmers Branch - Has a new engine pictured here. Its been in service for approx. 1 week. It is Engine 133, a 2008 ALF Eagle with Caterpillar engine, a 65 ft.telsquirt, 1500 GPM Hale single stage pump, 500 gallon tank. Has no red line but uses a front bumper discharge with 100 ft of 1-3/4" hose for car, trash fires, etc. Carries 1000 ft of 5" hose, 800 ft of 3" hose, 3-crosslays with 150 ft of 1-3/4" hose on bottom tray, 200 ft of 1- 3/4" in the middle tray, and 250 ft of 2 -1/2" hose on top tray. Has 2 fixed brow scene lights, 2 quartz scene lights on the ladder tip,1 telescopic scene light on each side. It also carries paramedic gear as well. The bell is dedicated to the department's first fire chief, Bob Yeager. Thanks to Robert

1/12/2009 Keller - Has a new Pierce Velocity 75'. It will be assigned to the new fire station at the corner of Bear Creek Pkwy and Keller-Smithfield Rd which will be Station 4 and it's unit number will be Quint 584. Station 4 is scheduled to be up and running sometime in March this year. We've also have two new Frazier F450 Ambulances on order. One for St.4 which will be Medic 584 and the other for St3 which will be Medic 583. Thanks to Ryan
1/12/2009 Fort Worth - The Fort Worth Fire Department opened Station 41, located at 11400 Willow Springs Road, on Jan 5th with E-41 and Water-41. On Jan 10, the "old, temporary Station 41" became the "new, temporary Station 34" with E-34. Their new station will not be completed until later this year / early next year, and will be located in the Sendera Ranch Addition. On Jan 15th, Station 11, located at 1900 Texan Drive (just west of Texas Motor Speedway) will open with E-11. Thanks to Greg
1/7/2009 Fort Worth - From our friend from way up north, "I was looking trough http://www.primeconstructionco.com/ under "bidding projects" and found plans for a new Fort Worth Fire Station 27. The stations address would be 8900 Trinity Boulevard. From looking at most of the addendums it will look the same as new station 41 & 11 (witch I also found are now done.) 12/15/2008 Fort Worth - There's a city council item recommending the purchase of a Spartan aerial on the agenda. I assume this will be a Smeal since it's going through the Houston-Galveston Area Council with Scott Fire Apparatus. It's slated to replace Quint 33 on the very far east side.

12/4-5/2008 D/FW Airport Fire Training - I had a great opportunity to see live fire training at D/FW's burn pit today. Miami-Dade was in town training. I shot a little video with a new Flip Video Mino HD, and put it on YouTube. It looks much better on my computer than it does on YouTube, but I guess they have to compress it quite a bit to be able to stream as much as they do. Here's a better version in Windows .wmv format. Here are my still photos from 12/4 and here are some from 12/5. I made a few into good 1024x768 wallpaper sizes here, here, here, and here. 12/5/08 Parker -VFD Just took delivery of a new Smeal 75' aerial, from Scott Fire Apparatus in Wylie Tx. Click here for photo. 11/28/2008 Fort Worth - Report from our northern division: "Today I was in Wyoming, MN at General Safety Equipment "Rosenbauer America." While I was there I found two new Fort Worth Fire apparatus. They are Engine 11 and Engine 38, both are Spartan/Gladiator Rosenbauer Generals with Waterous Fire Pumps and CAFS, just like most of the other new engines. The only different things I found about them was a little bit longer ladder rack and an "Eagle Siren", it is supposed to sound something like a Q". I believe someone told me just last week, that the next 4 Spartans will displace the remaining Freightliners from frontline service. Thanks to Kyle

10/15/2008 Fort Worth - Has a 1940 Mack on the city council agenda. It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to accept the donation from Mr. Mike Slusser of a 1940 Mack Fire Engine, Model 80, Serial No. 80LS1050 valued at $10,000.00, for use by the Fire Department. Mr. Mike Slusser would like to donate this 1940 fire engine so that it can be restored and utilized by the Fire Department for public relations purposes. However, if in the future, the City no longer wants the fire engine, the City will donate the fire engine to the Fire Museum in Dallas, Texas, or such equivalent.

Red Springs Just placed an order for two fire apparatus from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists. The first is a medium rescue from SuperVac and features a 16 aluminum body, Onan 25kw PTO generator, two electric cord reels, two Holmatro hydraulic reels, storage for 30 air bottles, a SuperVac 9000 watt Command Light scene light, and Whelen LED lighting all on a Freightliner M2 2-door chassis. The second unit is a pumper from Crimson and features a SE series aluminum body, 1000 gallon water tank, Waterous 1500gpm pump, Foam Pro 1600 class A system with 30 gallon tank, top mount pump panel, Honda 5kw generator, Whelen LED lighting all on a Spartan Metro Star MFD chassis. Delivery for both of these units is expected by mid-summer 2009.
Grapevine Just placed an order for a dive rescue vehicle from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists. The chassis will be from Morgan Olsen and finished out by SuperVac. The unit will feature on board storage for all of their dive equipment, a dressing area, a drying area for wet suites, an equipment maintenance area, an Onan 12kw diesel generator, a Knight Light II scene light, an observation deck, and Whelen LED lighting. Delivery of this unit is expected in early Spring 2009.

8/26/2008 Fort Worth - Had a "SV1 Spartan bomb truck and a fan ventilator " on the city council agenda this week. I'm guessing SV1 is suppose to be SVI. "The SV1 Spartan bomb truck, also known as a special service apparatus, and the trailer-mounted fan ventilator will be utilized by the Fire Department in bomb-related incidents. The fan ventilator is transportable and comes equipped with a fuel-injected engine, an 8-gallon fuel tank and has a run time of two hours. 7/28/2008 Fort Worth - I visited station 35 at Alliance Airport today to take these photos of Rescue 352, a Rosenbauer Panther 3000. The engineer was even nice enough to flow some water. 5/17/2008 Arlington - to Dedicate Heroes Park on May 17 New Park Pays Tribute to Fallen Police Officers, Fire Fighters The dedication of Heroes Park is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17. The park is a tribute to those who have fallen in the line of duty while serving the city. The ceremony will be held at the park, which is located at 2100 W. Green Oaks Blvd., adjacent to the Arlington Police Department West Station. Media parking has been reserved at Woodland Park located on the east side of Green Oaks Blvd., across from Heroes Park.

Texas Fire Museum - TFM Members/Friends: Texas Fire Museum is holding their 17th Annual Muster on Saturday, May 3, 2008. The show will take place at Fish Trap Park in West Dallas which is just west of the Hampton and Singleton intersection and runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We plan to grill dogs again at this year's event due to the overwhelming positive response we received on last year's lunch. Chips and drinks will be provided as well. The donation can will be set up to pay for the rations. Here are some photos from the event. 3/31/2008 Keller - A proposed Station 4 will be built at Keller-Smithfield and Bear Creek Parkway. See Star-Telegram article for more details. "Fire Station No. 4 will sit on about three acres at 501 Keller-Smithfield Road South. With its three bays, it will be larger than existing stations in the city, King said. The city's other two stations only have two bays, but could be expanded in the future, he said. The station will house six firefighters, two battalion chiefs and a captain. " It's hoped that it will be built by next spring.

2/22/2008 Various - Here are lots of photos from Fort Worth Station 2, D/FW Airport Training, Stewart & Stevenson(S&S), and the Texas Fire Museum. I'll try to get some more info, but as I recall from one of the tour guides, DFW is going to be adding 2 more "city stations", 7 appartus. I think he said 3 trucks, 2 quints and two engines, but it may have been 3 engines, 2 trucks, and 2 quints. Also, they'll be adding about 40 personel. The Bronto will go bye-bye. 2/21/2008 Dallas - I had a chance to tour the Dallas Fire Rescue Training, Manitenance, and Supply facility today. There are lots of new apparatus waiting to hit the streets. Quite a few new boosters (thanks to Chris for the link), Bat trucks, Engine 42, an new Texas Task Force 2 USAR Semi (I think it's new), and probably others I'm forgetting. 10/13/2007 Arlington - Completed the final inspection on their new light and air truck from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialist Inc. The truck was built by SuperVac and features a Bauer air compressor with ASME bottles and three-position fill station, lima 40kw generator, storage for forty-eight bottles, Garmin GPS system and, Whelen LED lighting all on an International 4400 chassis. It will reach as high as the new Airbus A380's lower deck to allow passageners to deplane when an aircraft isn't able to make it to the jetway. 7/15/2007 Dallas - On Sunday Rescue 52 becomes a full time ambulance and Peak Demand Rescue 40 stands up. Yes I know station 40 is not open but they need the box, so it will run off the approach at station 49 in front of RED 49 and they will store it at 46's during non peak hours until station 40 opens. On July 20 Peak Demand Rescue 29 becomes Peak Demand Rescue 39 and Peak Demand Rescue 72 (now at station 26) moves to 25's, but remains Peak Demand Rescue 72. Swift Water 15 has moved to 34's. Next station to open is 40 at Kirnwood at Hampton, opens in the fall, then 50 opens then 58 opens. Thanks to Wally and Thomas adds... that the move of swift water 15 is only the beginning. As soon as FEMA funding comes through they could get a 18 wheeler for disaster relief and 1 or 2 ski-doos as well as some sort of shallow boat for floods etc., but not sure beyond that. It is most likely going to be part of Task Force 2.
7/10/2007 Carrollton - In reference to 1/9/2006 entry: I believe the engine being built in the photo has been completed and placed in service as Engine 112. There is also a new Truck 112 made by Pierce but I do not know the model. It is a 100 foot rear mount arial and to my knowledge Carrollton's first ever arial platform truck. Engine 116 & I think 117 have been recently replaced, but Im not sure how long ago that was. Thanks to Andrew
7/10/2007 - Metro Fire Apparatus is opening its new offices at 1121 Sturgeon Ct. in Arlington this week. This facility will be home for the new North Texas offices for Metro along with a make-ready and maintenance facility. We will also warehouse our full line of firefighting equipment including Task Force Tips nozzles and equipment, Holmatro rescue tools, Haix firefighting boots and Bullard thermal imaging cameras just to mention a few. 5/11/2007 - Dallas - Location: Fire Station #38, 2839 Wilhurt Ave. @ Bonnie View Rd. Details: Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR), is pleased to announce the opening of replacement Fire Station 38 this month. This new environmentally friendly Fire Station was designed by GSR Andrade Architects and replaces the current DFR facility at 2816 E. Illinois Ave. The station constructed by 3i/JE Dunn Construction Co. will be their first in the city to seek a Silver Leed Certification, commonly referred to as a "Green Building." The ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 11th will officially open the facility. Local artist Etty Horowitz, contracted to provide city mandated art work, will present to us three stainless steel sculptures titled, "Roots of Light." The sculpture honors the duties and community commitments performed by firefighters. City leaders and dignitaries, will join with Dallas Fire Chief Eddie Burns and members of Dallas Fire-Rescue for the opening ceremony and station tour. The event will be open to the public. Festivities will begin with a parade (several appartus from the Texas Fire Museum will be there.) at 10 AM starting at the GISD Administration parking lot and will end at the memorial site (see map at GVFD). 1/22/2007 - Lewisville - M161, 162, and 163 are all brand new and in service this week. M165 was placed into service new about 6 months ago. All of our medics are on a five year replacement cycle. The old ones just entered their 6th year. Two of the ones we were using will be converted for use as Support 160 and our backup dive rig. 1/7/2007 Fort Worth - Station 38 at 13280 Park Vista Blvd should open this month. It will be the first of 4 new stations for far north Fort Worth, and will no doubt reduce response times and improve fire service in the area. "The next stations should take less time to build, he said. A station will be built on Willow Springs Road south of U.S. 287 and another in the Harriet Creek area at Texas 114 and Farm Road 156. "Deputy Fire Chief Jay Peacock said discussions are under way to have Keller and Fort Worth help each other whenever emergency crews from one city are not available for areas near the cities' border. 8/21/2006 Euless - I took some photos of the 3 alarm fire in Euless last night. Three Alarm apartment fire in Euless, Texas. Firefighters from seven (7) agencies , Euless, Bedford, Hurst, Fort Worth, Colleyville, Grapevine and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, assisted with the three story fire that occurred early Sunday evening. The fire reportedly started when a mattress inside an apartment was ignited by a candle burning too close to the bed. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with heat exhaustion and was later released in good condition. No other report of injuries. The building was a total loss and displaced 41 residents. The firefighter is doing well and was released last night. Thanks to Euless FD

Fire Stations No. 11 and No. 41 will be prototype facility designs adapted to the specific sites. Fire Station No. 11 is in the 2004 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and will be located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 2 on Highway 114 and Harriet Creek Drive on the Northwest Independent School District central campus. Engine 10 (I think) and Truck 19 have been outfitted with the new tires and rims and have gotten good review from the bubbas. North Richland Hills - City Council approved a new Ladder truck to replace the 20 year old Sutphen currently used.The truck will be purchased from ATC American LaFrance for $869,666. The council also approved purchase of a new ambulance.
Benbrook - City council approved purchase of a new Hazmat / Rescue from Pierce Manufacturing. The truck was purchased using State Homeland Security Grant and Urban area Security Initiative grand money. The total cost is $335,343 plus $49,657 to equipt the apparatus. The truck will be a 2006 Pierce Enforcer Chassis with Encore Rescue body.
Grand Prairie - City Council approved purchase of a new Truck 9 from Sutphen. Total amount for the apparatus is $785,118.15
Dallas - City council reviewed the 2006 November bond packet. The Fire department is seeking $53,950,489 for the following fire station additions and improvements. 11/23/2005 Irving - The following purchase is for new Truck 8. BTW, the current Truck 8 was hit last weekend while blocking on a freeway. This purchase was planned already. The damage looks more cosmetic but will need to be inspected to make sure the outriggers did not suffer any damage. Medic 5 and Medic 2(a new unit formed) are expecting delivery shortly of new MICU's from Frazier. They resemble the other new Ford's purchased with the exception of the Chevron's that Plano has been using they are located around the rear doors. Just a little side note, the Truck will have a pump on it. The rig will still be called a Truck and not a Quint. 11/08/2005 Fort Worth - Today station 41 was scheduled to begin service, located in far northwest Fort Worth off of 287 near 156 it will cover the fast growing are that had been previously lacking the fast response of a nearby Fire Station. Also, FD is going to reuse the station designators 11 and 34 for future stations, the Air Shop had the designation of Station 11 but is now simply known as the Air Shop. They are looking at another station further out on 287 which might get the Station 11 designation. Thanks to Ed

10/22/2005 Colleyville - Will build two new fire stations, instead of one. Star-Telegram Article. "The two stations are now in the design stage, and construction should be completed in 2007. The main fire station will be on Colleyville Boulevard, just north of Main Street. A second fire station will be on Pool Road, south of O.C. Taylor Elementary School." The article also mentions a new ladder truck was approved in a February vote.

City Council Item " The Sky Watch Eagle will be utilized toward crime prevention and detection of crime at various community events and public locations. It can be strategically located in public areas and due to its versatility can be used for surveillance, emergency response, crowd control or disaster preparedness.

9/20/2005 Dallas - On Monday October 3rd Truck 4, Engine 4 and HazMat 4 and personnel move to 3 station and become T-3 E-3 and HazMat 3. Truck 3, Engine 3 and Booster 3 and personnel move to station 4 and become T-4 E-4 and BU 4. As a result Rescue 3 will join HazMat Task Force 3 and respond with the task force. This move is all about the paramedics, there was no room at 4's for adding the Rescue. HazMat Task Force response will be T-3, R-3, and HazMat 3. Battalion 1 stays at 4's. The North Texas USAR task force is moving forward Heavy Rescues are being ordered for 19's and 15's from Spartan Gladiator Chasis 4 door cab and SVI body with delivery in August 06, 20 foot rescue body overall length 35 feet, 4 compartments on each side, 2 rear compartments, ladder to roof with more compartments, 9000# front winch, command light and generator. The heavy rescues will answer on second alarms on their side of the river. Both stations will also keep their trucks. Thanks to Wally

Station 1 construction started today (06/23/05)at Miller Rd and Weems Way. Medic 1 has received a new type 1 ambulance from Frazier Inc. Also, the new combo Fire/Police Command Truck from Metro Apparatus is due in this week. This all brings Rowlett up to: 4 Stations/ 2 Engines, 2 Quints, 3 Medics, 1 Chief Suburban, 1 Brush, 2 reserve engines, 2 reserve MICU's, 1 reserve Tahoe and pick-up, 1 utility admin F350 crew cab, 1 boat, 2 personal watercraft. 6/21/2005 Fort Worth - The new Fort Worth Station 8 is under construction at the S.E. corner of 12th Ave. and Rosedale. I also went by the shops on W. Bolt, and the new Engine 22, 23, and 29 were there. They are Rosenbauer with a Spartan Gladiator Classic cab. It also looked like they had two new Hovercrafts. Unless they just repainted the red, and blue ones they use to have to all white with blue stripes to match the trucks. Thanks to Peter

Also the new Central Station is under construction across the street from the current Central Station. Station 5 is set to open later this year. I'm not sure about when Central will open. 4/28/2005 Red Oak - "Just to let everyone know Red Oak FD will be changing there unit numbers soon there currently numbered as Engine 4 Ladder 1 Rescue 1 They have other units at there station but these are the main ones that you will hear on the radio the most. There new numbering will be as follows Engine 181 Quint 181 Squad 181 They are also set to receive a new walk in heavy rescue I think sometime at the end of this year and it will be called Rescue 10. It will cover 10 cities and it will be first call to DFW Airport on plane crashes. This truck is also federally funded and if the governement requests it, it can be sent anywhere they may need it. Everyone that will be on it is currently being trained in Rope rescue, Swift Water Rescue, Trench Rescue, and High Angle Rescue. This new truck is all part of a group of city fire departments that got together they include Red Oak, Glenn Heights, Lancaster, DeSoto,Ovilla,Duncanville and Cedar Hill. Lancaster fire department will or already has received a hazmat trailer that will be pulled with a new Ford pickup. They will be handling all the hazmat calls for the whole southern dallas county and northern ellis county area. " Thanks to Cody

2/10/05- Telico - Attached also you will find a picture of a pumper tanker from Telico VFD (just east of Ennis). This truck was purchased with the assistance of the Texas Forest Service through HB 2604 and the community of Telico. The NFPA 1901 compliant truck was built by Westex Welding Co. out of West, Texas on a 2004 GMC 8500 with a 300 HP Cat diesel motor and Allison electronic transmission. The truck is equipped with a single stage Darley 1250 GPM pump. There are 4--2 1/2" discharges, 2--1 1/2" preconnects, 4" Storz discharge, 3" deck gun, 2--6" intakes, 1--2 1/2" pony suction. The trucks equipment consist of a 2100 gallon Fol-Da-Tank, 24', 14', and 10' ladders, 600' 4" supply hose, 200' 3" supply hose, 2--150' preconnects, 2--10'x6" hard suction hoses with strainer, back-up camera, foam system, deck gun, 2000 gallon poly tank, 2--10" telescoping dump valves (1 each side), 4" rear direct fill, floating pump, vent fan, 3000 watt power inverter, 3 SCBA, 4 bottle cascade system above pump panel, misc. hand tools and a LED light package. 12/1/2004 Arlington - On December 14th, the council is suppose to approve a 1.4 million dollar contract with HGAC for 2 engines and 1 103' quint from Metro Fire Apparatus. The quint will replace quint 1's 1998 Spartan/AI/Quality and one of the engines will replace engine 9's 1998 Freightliner/Quality, the other will replace engine 13's 1994 KME that was totaled in an accident earlier this year. 12/1/2004 Haslet, NRH, Southlake - Construction is well under way for the replacement station for North Richland Hills Station #1. It will be located on the SW corner of Davis Blvd and Shadywood Lane (Mapsco 38G). This is .9 miles north of the current station. Southlake should begin construction soon on their 3rd fire/public safety station at the NE corner of Dove and White Chapel directly across from the water tower that's visible from Highway 114 (Mapsco 11V). And Haslet is now occupying their new station on FM156 just north of Blue Mound East (Mapsco 20G). Thanks to Jeff

Dallas Police Department turned over it's Fiscal Year 2004/2005 Budget Presentation. Some of the highlights include a 10 year lease / purchase for three new helicopters to replace the current fleet of four.
Dallas Fire Department also turned in there 2004/2005 wish list. Hightlights are below. 1) Replacement of 18 Rescues at a cost of $1,785,048 2) One new aerial truck $ 650,758 3) Four new Engines - $1,262,180 4) Four new Batallion vehicles - $133,628 5) New Lake Rescue / Recovery Boat to replace a 1983 model for Lake Ray Hubbard. Cost of $88,911 6) Replace five inflatable rescue boats for flooded neighborhoods, creeks, rivers, etc. Cost of $29,000 7) New mobile air supply truck to replace the 1980 International. Cost of $372,709 8) New Fire Station at Hampton and Kirwood 9) Total of 86 Thermal Imaging Camera's. 1) Watauga - I noticed on several passes by the DPS fire station, that in one of the bays was a new white tanker truck that says "Tarrant County" painted on the side. I am curious and wonder if this has been placed here for the upcoming grass fire season.
2) Flower Mound Obtaining a 3000-gallon tanker from the Fire Act Grant.
3) Pantego A new Hazmat trailer is being equipped to handle Hazmat/Technical Decontamination. Pantego will assist SERPA and Arlington if needed.
4) Ft. Worth Fort Worth and Forest Hill are ready to enter into a mutual aid agreement. Fort Worth is still willing to work towards mutual aid agreements with others as well.
5) Arlington Arlington is preparing to begin reconstruction of several fire stations including stations 6, 7, 8, and 9. They will also construct new stations for 3 and 4.
6) Haslet Has poured the slab for their new station
7) Mansfield The construction of Station 3 is underway
8) DFW Airport A new ventilation vehicle is available to the region. The vehicle can be injected with foam for decontamination purposes and has been tested on a large hotel building. Six new crash trucks(at least one is in service, EZ11) are on order as well as a trauma truck that will contain mass casualty equipment. Chief Black stated that any regional request for resources should be made to DFW FD dispatch and it will be sent. Chief Black will be notified after dispatch and then decide whether to continue the equipment in route to the requested location. Each request will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
9) Rowlett - The new fire station # 4 on Rowlett Road is nearing completion.
10) Allen - The city council authorized the purchase of one 75' quint and one 1500 GPM Pumper from Martin Fire apparatus through the Houston - Galveston council of governments for a total of $913,982, this was in the June 8th council meeting.
11) Plano - The city council approved the purchase of two new ambulances to be purchased from Wheeled Coach in the amount of $354,690
12) Garland - ( From the 6/14/04 city council meeting ) Council is requested to consider the acceptance of the State Homeland Security Grant Program grant award totaling $304,345 for fiscal year 2004. Acceptance of this grant will allow the City to purchase a hazard duty bomb robot for the Police Department Bomb Unit and a fixed site generator to support the Emergency Operations Center when activated.

3/22/04 Arlington - Plans to purchase 3 new 3/4 ton suburbans to be used as Battalion Vehicles. The new vehicles will have Whelen LED lighting packages, Odyssey command cabinets, built in Bullard Thermal Imaging receivers and LCD screens. They will also be equipped with two of the new Motorola MW 800 Mobile Data Computers one for the front and one for the rear and thermal printers for use in printing building plans and apartment plats on scene. 3/10/04 Ellis/Dallas Counties - Ellis-Dallas Unified Cooperative Team (EDUCT) received a U.S. Department of Homeland Security grant that will be used to purchase a heavy rescue(stationed in Red Oak) and a support truck(stationed in Ovilla). They hoped to receive enough for a mobile command post, but didn't now, and will try to get that in 2005. Waxachie received a grant that they will use to upgrade their radio system. 2/2/04 Frisco - A welcome/guide book tells how Frisco is growing, and all sorts of information including the Fire Dept. and Police Dept. The City of Frisco is going to begin construction on a new Central Fire Station this Summer. It will be located across the street from the current station. It will be a 5-bay drive thru station. The new Central Station will carry a address of Gary Burns. The current Central Station then would become Fleet Services. Also plans are under way to build Station 5 in the N.E. sector of the city. There was no exact locations as to where it will be located. The Police Dept. is building a new Police Headquarters on Stone Brook Pkwy. Fire Station 11 This project provides funding for the purchase of land, the construction of a new fire station and the puirchase of a new fire engine. This new station will serve rapidly developing far northeast Plano (the area east of Central Expressway and north of Parker Road). It will be located east of Jupiter Road along the extension of Los Rios Boulevard. The station will be staffed with one paramedic engine company. Completion Date: 9/30/2005
Fire Station 12 This project provides funding for the purchase of land and the construction of a new fire station. This station will serve an area in the center of the City that is not adequately serviced by existing stations (east of Preston Road, west of Independence Parkway, north of Parker Road and south of Spring Creek Parkway). Fire Station 12 will be staffed with an existing paramedic engine company to be relocated from an existing two- company station. Completion Date: 9/30/2006
Fire Station 13 This project includes funding for the purchase of a site for a future fire station. When built, this station would enhance service in the Legacy Business Park and Tollway corridor area, which is expected to be densely developed in the next few years. The desired location for Fire Station 13 is west of the Tollway and north of Legacy Drive with good access to the southbound Tollway. Completion Date: 9/30/2006

In other financially related news,the city of Fort Worth s 2004 Capital Improvement Program (CIP)will go before the voters Feb. 7,2004.Several propositions will be on the proposed $220+million bond program.The fire department,which will have its own proposition on the ballot,is requesting a little more than $11 million in funds.The specific items being requested include the following: Construction of two stations in the annexed northwest area and land purchase for a future third station Construction of a new Station 27 at a different location Installation of an exhaust removal system at all fire stations Installation of compressed air foam systems on 20 fire apparatus Addition of female restroom facilities to stations

11/05/03 Arlington - has taken delivery of another 2003 brush truck from S & S Fire Apparatus in Keller, TX. The chassis is an International 7400 series 4 X 4 with a flatbed designed body that carries 1000 gallons of water, 30 gallons of class "B" foam and 20 gallons of class "A" foam. It has a Waterous 302-A 230 gpm pump driven by a Kubota auxilary engine. A Foam Pro 2001 system allows foam to be distributed to the 2--1 1/2" attack lines, the booster reel or the bumper mounted Elkhart Sidewinder turret. This truck will be stationed at #12 at Arlington Municipal Airport and is replacing a 1978 GMC/Fire Boss booster truck. Thanks to Don & Brian for the info and photos below.

9/30/03 Midlothian -recently took delivery of a brand new custom 1500gpm/750gal/50gal foam engine from Crimson Fire. Construction should begin on Station #2 during the first part of next year, and it will be located in the vicinity of Walnut Grove Road and FM1387 (east of downtown Midlothian). sometime down the road Station #3 will be constructed on the corner of Tower Road and Highway 663 on land already owned by the city. 9/14/03 Arlington - Has taken delivery of (2) 2003 brush trucks on F550 Ford chassis with 400 gallons of water and 5 gallons of class "A" foam from S & S Fire Apparatus in Keller, TX. They will be assigned to Brush-5 and Brush-13. The 1993 Chevy brush truck currently assigned as Brush-13 will be reassigned to Brush-10 The 1971 Chevy/Fire Boss brush truck currently assigned as Brush-10 and the 1981 Ford/Fire Boss brush truck currently assigned as Brush-5 will be sold. Another brush truck is also under production at S & S Fire Apparatus in Keller, TX. It is being built on a 2003 International 7400 series chassis with 1000 gallons of water, 30 gallons of class "B" foam, and 20 gallons of class "A" foam. A 250 gpm waterous auxiliary pump and Elkhart Sidewinder bumper turret will be included. This truck will be assigned as Brush-12 at the airport station and will replace a 1978 GMC/Fire Boss brush truck which will be sold. The new truck should be delivered by the end of October 2003

5/25/03 Dallas - Dallas' new Truck 3 is at the shops being readied for service. It is rumored the that this is first of three tractor-drawn ladder trucks on order. "Rumor Control" has it that Dallas is returning to an all "tiller" fleet as trucks are replaced. Also, Dallas rec'd a sizeable order of Ford/Wheeled Coach MICUs. Many have been dispersed to the fire stations and many are being readied for service. The major differences are 1) all red except the tops of the module and rims, 2) a CPR seat, 3) A/C that runs continously at thermostat setting while plugged into shore power, and 4) a small refrigerator for drugs. Dallas is also field-testing an MICU built on a Freightliner cab/chassis. Future orders may or may not be on the larger vehicles. It is currently assigned to Rescue 49. - Thanks (anonymous)

Would issue general obligation bonds in the amount of $4,935,000 for the purpose of providing funds for fire station facilities and equipment acquisition.
Automated Vehicle Location Program Would allow the Fire Department to improve emergency response times. Would include mounted transponders on vehicles that would allow dispatchers to pinpoint an emergency vehicles position, enabling them to deploy the emergency vehicle closest to the site of an emergency. Could be shared with the Police Department and other city departments.
$200,000 Fire Station and Facility Renovations Would provide for the construction of separate male and female facilities at multiple fire stations. Would construct larger bay doors at other select stations.
$1,250,000 Fire Station No. 4 Rebuild Would include the demolition and reconstruction of Fire Station No. 4 at 1733 W. Randol Mill Road. Would increase the size of the rebuilt station from 2,600 square feet to approximately 5,000 square feet for the purpose of providing additional space for larger apparatus and additional personnel.
$1,325,000 Fire Station No. 3 Rebuild Would include the demolition and reconstruction of Fire Station No. 3 at 1820 S. Fielder Road. Would increase the size of the rebuilt station from 2,600 square feet to approximately 5,000 square feet for the purpose of providing additional space for larger apparatus and additional personnel.
$1,360,000 The Vehicle Pre-Emption System Phase III Would equip approximately 80-90 intersections with pre-emption receivers that give the emergency vehicles the green light as they approach intersections for the purpose of improving response times and enhancing safety by decreasing the chance of accident.
$300,000 Burn Building Upgrades Would add computerized, natural gas burning devices to simulate kitchen, bedroom and garage fire conditions at the Fire Training facility for the purpose of increasing firefighter safety, reducing the level of smoke produced, and reducing water runoff and contamination. $500,000

11/11/02 Arlington broke ground two weeks ago on the new Station 14. It's a two bay Station that will be built in the 5600 block of Ron McAndrew Dr. That's right next door to the Training Academy and their temporary Station of 13 years!! (Thanks to Peter)
11/5/02 Arlington Council member Capehart made a motion to approve a resolution authorizing the City Manager or his designee to purchase two fire engines from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialist, Inc., through the Houston-Galveston Area Council Cooperative Purchasing Program, (H-GAC) in the total amount of $768,480, which purchase price includes $756,480 for the purchase of the two fire engines, $10,000 for a pre-construction conference and an inspections conference, and a $2,000 H-GAC administrative fee (funds available in Fire Department Account No. 0010-002-2220-4257). Seconded by Councilmember Cluck, the motion carried with 9 ayes and 0 nays. RESOLUTION NO. 02-535 (Thanks for catching that one Chris.).

, I bet this is actually a utility truck. Especially since the cost seems
pretty low compared to a regular fire truck. Bedford is getting a utility truck
